School Information

Welcome to Bettie Weaver Elementary

Our History

Bettie Woodson Weaver Elementary opened in the Fall of 1994. We were a small school at the time, with four sections/teachers in each grade level. We have grown over the years, having as many as seven sections per grade level, with itinerant resource teachers coming twice a week.

The students at Bettie Weaver Elementary School are extremely proud of the lady for whom the school is named. She is an author and a very special teacher in Chesterfield County. While she was a teacher she tried to encourage her students to appreciate the natural beauty of Virginia and its natural resources – as they learned Virginia’s wonderful history. She also helped pupils learn the history of Chesterfield County and to preserve its resources such as fruits, water, wildlife, minerals, and fresh air. She especially urged her students to appreciate the colorful songbirds that live nearby.
